A Message from Ms Rice

Dear Parents / Carers

For the last 27 years I have served the students of Redcar and Cleveland and 17 of those years have been at Bydales. I am one of the lucky people who has enjoyed coming to work each day. I joined Bydales in 2005 and when I arrived I felt part of a strong community. Bydales has become part of who I am, but I am writing to inform you of my decision to retire at the end of this academic year, on 31 August 2023. 

Whilst it is a difficult decision to leave the Bydales family it is also the right time for me to enjoy my retirement. My elderly mother has been unwell and retirement will allow me to spend more time with my family.

It is a great privilege to be the Principal of Outwood Academy Bydales. An academy that has been on an incredible journey and through many changes over my time there. I have taken great pleasure in seeing so many children develop and flourish as confident, successful young people and I am proud of the part I may have played in making the academy the great place it is today. 

The post of Principal will be advertised after the half term holiday. I am confident that an outstanding candidate will be appointed, and they will be supported by a very strong leadership team and the many fantastic staff, who are passionate and dedicated to the education and well being of our young people.

I would like to finish by saying a big thank you for all the support you have given me and will continue to provide during my time at the academy. The academy’s reputation is attributed to the positive attitudes and exemplary behaviour of our young people, your support and engagement and the quality of care provided by our staff. 

We have a great deal to do over the remainder of the year to ensure that our current students maximise their potential, be reassured I shall remain focused on ensuring that we continue to provide the high standards of education you would expect from us. I look forward to working with my executive team to ensure an effective transition by September 2023 for the new Principal of Outwood Academy Bydales when they are appointed.
