Bike Thefts in Marske and Redcar

The Academy has been liaising with Cleveland Police following a number of incidents involving bike thefts that have taken place between Marske and Redcar on the green footbridge, and at other sites in Redcar in recent days.  Cleveland Police have advised us that they are increasing patrols in this area but would like students and parents/carers to remain vigilant. 

We recommend you discuss general cycle safety recommendations with your children including:
  • cycling in groups
  • cycling on well lit and open routes 
  • wearing hi-visibility clothing or having reflectors on their bikes
  • consider registering your child's bike on the national cycle database https://www.bikeregister.com/join
  • using bike locks if leaving bikes unattended for even a short period of time
