Dear Parents and Carers
Bike Thefts
As you are aware there have been a number of bike thefts and attempted thefts in Marske and Redcar over the past few months, some of which have had a direct impact on the academy’s students.
Like you, we have been extremely concerned about this and have been liaising regularly with the local police team, sharing information as it becomes available. The academy has now contacted the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner to request an update from him on the actions that are being taken to protect students and the wider community.
The Commissioner has provided us with information from the local policing team and I would like to share with you what we have been told.
CID are working with the local policing team to investigate the offences that have been reported, and to prevent further incidents. Additional resources have been brought into the local area to directly address these crimes and crimes that are believed to be related to them.
The police have been undertaking overt and covert patrols in the areas where incidents have been reported and several arrests have now been made. It has been several weeks since the last reported theft but there will continue to be a high level of vigilance within the district.
The policing team understands the strength of feeling within the community and they will be linking up with the academy to arrange crime prevention events for our students.
I would encourage you to inform the police of any incidents you become aware of and, where these directly affect our students, to make us aware of them also.
Yours faithfully
Seana Rice
Principal
